DMTF and TM Forum Joint Whitepaper Now Available: Cloud Management for Communications Service Providers
The DMTF and TM Forum have released a joint whitepaper aimed to coordinate work around development and adoption of standards for the management and operational aspects of the cloud computing environment for Communications Service Providers.
If you missed the Management Developers Conference (MDC) this year, you can now view the 30-minute webcast, “Cloud Complications – Keys to Adoption and Advancement,” online for free. This webcast features key discussions from industry associations and vendors on what is driving cloud adoption and what vendors and users need to be aware of.
Join DMTF panelists Winston Bumpus and Mark Carlson on February 9, 2012 at 7:00 am PT for a free webinar titled “The State of Cloud Standards.”
With adoption rates soaring, the time is right for industry bodies to clarify and unify their standards. Tune in live to hear what exists, what's new and how current standards can be used by end-users and vendors alike to push cloud computing forward.
DMTF recently appointed Jeff Wheeler from Huawei as DMTF’s first VP of Education. The role was created in response to feedback from members confirming education as a major organizational goal. In particular, the new role will ensure a wider effort in creating and presenting instructional engineering-level materials and delivering a deeper understanding of CIM-related benefits to members.
2011 has been another great year for DMTF. We have produced many new specifications, over a dozen new profiles and four major new releases of CIM. Our work in the Cloud Computing space is really kicking into to gear with several Work-In-Progress (WIP) releases of our new Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI) specification, along with the first whitepaper also released as a WIP from the Software License Management Incubator. In addition, the Cloud Auditing Data Federation Working Group (CADFWG) has been hard at work and we should see some of their new specifications announced in early 2012.
DMTF is proud to acknowledge those members who have gone above and beyond their usual call of duty to contribute to the organization’s success through our annual Star Awards.

MDC is quickly approaching – so don’t forget to register before the event on Nov. 11 – 14, 2011 at the San Mateo, CA Marriott. This year’s conference will feature a variety of sessions, highlighting topics such as Cloud Interoperability, Cloud Storage for Cloud Computing, Open Virtualization Format (OVF), Common Information Model (CIM), Cloud Auditing Data Federation (CADF), DASH & SMASH and more. We hope you can join us.
The Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI) work-in-progress specifications are now available for public review and comment at www.dmtf.org/cloud. All DMTF members are encouraged to review the specifications and provide feedback through the DMTF Feedback Portal at http://www.dmtf.org/standards/feedback.
Eight new documents were approved during the September 2011 DMTF board meeting.
