Information for Authors

Information for how to prepare your Camera Ready paper came from the CNSM 2015 Web site. If any of these instructions are unclear, please contact Shannon Keith-Marsoun as soon as possible.

The Camera Ready paper, Xplore compliance check PDF document, and the completed and signed copyright form MUST be submitted to the Shannon Keith-Marsoun no later than September 20, 2015. There are no exceptions to this deadline.

At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered for the workshop by September 10, 2015

General Information

Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be presented at the conference/workshop. Every paper accepted at CNSM 2015, DCM or ManSDN/NFV must have an associated registration at the Author rate. At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered for the conference/workshop by September 10, 2015 in order for that paper to appear in the proceedings and to be scheduled for presentation. For a paper in which all authors are students, one student author must register at the Author rate. For authors presenting multiple papers, one author registration is valid for three papers at most.

Formatting and IEEE Xplore® Compliance

When your accepted paper (full paper, mini-conference paper, short paper, workshop paper) is presented, it will appear soon afterwards on IEEE Xplore® — the IEEE Digital Library — and it is important that your submitted PDF file meets the specification for IEEE Xplore®. Failing to submit an IEEE Xplore® compatible PDF file may result in the file not being included in the conference proceedings. Please refer to the IEEE document "Simplified Requirements for Creating PDF Files for IEEE Xplore®" for more information. We strongly recommend that all final submissions be created using the IEEE PDF eXpress™ service. The IEEE PDF eXpress™ service can convert your paper from a wide range of formats to IEEE Xplore®-compatible PDFs. The service is free of charge for CNSM 2015, DCM or ManSDN/NFV authors and can be accessed using the following information:

  • Go to the IEEE PDF eXpress™ Login Page
  • Select the "New Users - Click Here" link
  • Enter the following:
    • 36505X for the Conference ID
    • your email address
    • a password
  • Continue to enter information as prompted.

An online confirmation will be displayed and an email confirmation will be sent verifying your account setup.

Previous users of PDF eXpress need to follow the above steps, but should enter the same password that was used for previous conferences. Verify that your contact information is valid.

The following information is intended to guide you on formatting your final paper, ensuring your PDF file is IEEE Xplore® compliant.

Page Limit

Please address the suggestions raised by the reviewers to improve the quality of your paper and make sure to comply with all formatting requirements. The page limit for regular (full) and workshop papers is eight (8) pages, plus references. Please note that it is not possible to purchase extra pages.

Templates

Please format your final submission using the guidelines provided in IEEE_conf_layout.pdf. The guidelines are implemented in IEEE templates. LaTex authors please verify you are using the following documentclass:
\documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran}

Only in case you are unable to use LaTex, other text processors may be used at your own risk. IEEE provides a template for Word in US-Letter size. Your final submission must follow all IEEE conference formatting requirements (e.g., font sizes, margins, and layout). Thus, check them really carefully.

Margins must be:

  • Top: 0.75 inch = 1.91 cm
  • Left/right: 0.62 inch = 1.58 cm
  • Bottom 1.0 inch = 2.54 cm

Copyright Notice:

Insert an appropriate copyright notice on the first page (bottom left) as follows:

  • For papers in which all authors are employed by the US government, the copyright notice is: U.S. Government work not protected by U.S. copyright
  • For papers in which all authors are employed by a Crown government (UK, Canada, and Australia), the copyright notice is: 978-3-901882-77-7 (c) 2015 Crown
  • For all other papers the copyright notice is: 978-3-901882-77-7 (c) 2015 IFIP
  • Latex users can add either of the following green blocks just before \begin{document} for the copyright notice to show up (shown below as an example for the third case above):

\usepackage[pscoord]{eso-pic}
\newcommand{\placetextbox}[3]{
    \setbox0=\hbox{#3}
     \AddToShipoutPictureFG*{
     \put(\LenToUnit{#1\paperwidth},\LenToUnit{#2\paperheight}){
      \vtop{{\null}\makebox[0pt][c]{#3}}}
    }
}
\placetextbox{.2}{0.055}{ 978-3-901882-77-7~\copyright~2015 IFIP}

  • MSWord users can use: 'Insert' -> 'Text box', insert the appropriate copyright notice in the texbox, and place the box (without border) at the bottom left on the first page.

Further important requirements:

  • Title is set in 24 pt non-bold
  • Any running headers/footers or page-numbers must be removed
  • Columns should be balanced, i.e. have same length on each page
  • Blue-underlining for URLs and email addresses should be removed
  • Papers must be in US-Letter size. A4 or other sizes are not allowed

Please note that you should prepare the final manuscript with no page numbering.

Paper Submission

Send an email to Shannon Keith-Marsoun containing the following documents:

  • Camera Ready Copy (PDF) of your paper
  • Xplore compliance check PDF
  • Completed and signed IFIP copyright form (PDF)

Before submitting your paper, please:

  • Check that title and abstract in EasyChair match your camera-ready paper exactly
  • Please use Title Case for the paper title, i.e. capitalizing all main words
  • Compare all author names in EasyChair with the author list in your paper. They must be identical and in the same order
  • Enter all middle names/initials you prefer to use in the paper in the author profile EasyChair, as well
  • Ensure that special characters in the paper match the EasyChair entry. EasyChair supports UTF-8 special characters, such as äïöüßîçñé, etc. for author names
  • Have the PDF checked or created by IEEE PDFXpress; upload the certified file returned from IEEE PDFXpress into EasyChair

This is very important because we will be using the information provided in EasyChair to generate the final conference program and the table of contents for IEEE Xplore®. Please note that the abstract and title should be readable stand-alone and not contain any references or unexplained acronyms.

In case you need to modify the title or the abstract, you can do this through EasyChair. Changes to the list of authors, allowed only under exceptional circumstances, have to be approved by TPC chairs. All the camera-ready papers have to be submitted via EasyChair before September 20, 2015. EasyChair will prevent you from uploading papers that do not comply with formatting checks. Please check all requirements carefully again if that happens. If you believe your paper is compliant and you are still prevented from uploading, please send your PDF eXpress-certified PDF file to the publication chair and ask for advice. Please always put your EasyChair paper number in the subject line of email communication.

IFIP Copyright Form

Authors are required to transfer the copyright of their accepted papers to IFIP.

In this case you have to download the form here, read and fill it adequately. Don’t forget to include the title of your work, the first and last names of all the authors, and then sign it and send the scanned copy to the DCM TPC Chair at shannon@woldconsulting.com

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must upload the camera-ready version of your paper and submit the IFIP copyright form no later than September 20, 2015. If you fail to comply, the paper will not be published in IEEE Xplore®.

Open Access

All presented CNSM 2015 papers and collocated workshop papers will appear as open access at the date of the conference and will be made available on the CNSM Web site. In case a paper is not presented during the corresponding conference or workshop, it will be removed instantly from the digital library.
