Wrapping Up 2020 - From DMTF President Jeff Hilland

Even with the challenges wrought by 2020, together we pressed forward to create meaningful standards that address industry needs while solving challenges for the end user. We were able to move forward in spite of the circumstances presented by COVID because we already had the capacity to fully adopt a new working model. We had the tools, infrastructure and staff already in place, which enabled this to happen; thus, the transition to everything being held virtually presented less of a challenge for us as an organization. We’ve been doing remote work and virtual face-to-face meetings for years, so while inconvenient, it didn’t have the tremendous impact on the pace of our standards development that it could have. While face-to-face meetings are much more productive in many situations, our capacity to work virtually was already in place. Being able to pivot in these unprecedented times was certainly a relief.

We are so appreciative of our volunteers and hope that each of them takes a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and shares our sense of pride for these collaborative efforts. Without their hard work, none of it would be possible. Looking ahead to 2021, we want to thank our member companies, volunteers, as well as our alliance and industry partners for their ongoing commitment to the organization. I look forward to the projects we will tackle together. As always, thank you for the continued hard work and dedication.

Happy holidays to you and yours from all of us at DMTF!
