DMTF is hosting the Academic Alliance Workshop on Systems and Virtualization Management: Standards and the Cloud (SVM '11), on October 24, 2011 in Paris, France. With the increasing popularity of cloud computing, systems and virtualization management has become even more important. SVM ’11 offers DMTF members an opportunity to gain valuable updates on standards and research issues relating to the cloud in order to stay on top of the latest trends in the industry.

Red Hat Elected to DMTF Board of Directors

DMTF Rounds Out Cloud Strategy with Cloud Auditing Data Federation Work Group

Portland, Ore. – May 4, 2011 – The Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, today announced it has begun work on a set of specifications to specifically address a cloud provider’s ability to audit their systems for potential security concerns. The specifications will be developed in the newly formed “Cloud Auditing Data Federation Work Group (CADF),” which will work to enable providers to increase security capabilities to address customer concerns over cloud provider security, one of the top inhibitors to the adoption of cloud deployment models.

DMTF Opens DASH 1.0 Conformance Program for Industry Participation

PORTLAND, Ore. – March 28 , 2011- Distributed Management Task Force, Inc. (DMTF), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, today announced it has opened the conformance programfor its Desktop and Mobile Architecture for System Hardware (DASH) 1.0 standard to all interested vendors. Vendors can now validate their products for conformance with the DASH standard without being a DMTF member.

DMTF to Examine Need for Software License Management Standards

PORTLAND, Ore. – Feb. 28, 2011 –The Distributed Management Task Force(DMTF), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, today announced it has formed a group to address the need for effective software licensing management in virtualized and cloud computing environments. This “Software License Management Incubator” will work to develop a set of recommendations to guide future industry standardization of software license management in these environments.
