DMTF Goes GreenThis month, DMTF announced a plan to work with The Green Grid to develop standards designed to improve interoperability of technology solutions within the data center. DMTF and The Green Grid plan to collaborate to develop an interface for heterogeneous management, across data centers, and for IT and non-IT equipment. The Green Grid is a global consortium chartered to develop energy efficiency standards, processes, measurements and technologies for global data centers and business computing ecosystems. As DMTF is an industry organization leading the development, adoption and promotion of interoperable management initiatives and standards, DMTF will support The Green Grid in reaching its mission. On February 5-6, The Green Grid is hosting its Technical Forum at the Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco, Calif. The event is designed to further The Green Grid’s mission of advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. Attendees will learn about The Green Grid’s Data Center Metrics, current and emerging techniques for managing data centers for efficiency, and future technical deliverables from the organization. The Green Grid will also host discussions with leading industry policy-makers from around the world. For event registration and agenda information, click here. From the VP of Finance: How You Support the DMTF MissionBy Jishnu Mukerji, DMTF VP of Finance As DMTF’s VP of Finance, my main responsibility is to help manage the finances of the organization. I do this in collaboration with DMTF Secretary Kes Wold, DMTF President Winston Bumpus, and the other DMTF VPs. While much of the activity within this executive office role is fairly invisible to most members, it plays a critical role in keeping the machinery of the organization well oiled with funds. With the help of the DMTF leadership team, we focus upon three major functions:
One aspect that is readily visible to members is the collection of annual membership dues. Invoices for membership dues will be distributed in February, with payments due on April 1, 2008, which also marks the beginning of DMTF’s fiscal year. |
