Newly (Re)Named WBEM Infrastructure & Protocols Working Group (Cont'd)

Another re-structured sub-team within WIP is WS-CIM, which is a merging of the former CIM-SOAP group and the Structured Protocol sub-team from the Server Management Working Group. WS-CIM is a consolidated group where work takes place to enable the DMTF's infrastructure protocols to take advantage of Web Services. Initially, WS-CIM will specify how resources modeled using CIM are exposed, described, managed and discovered via Web services.

To learn more about the WIP working group and its sub-teams, DMTF members can visit the WIP site. Subgroups are listed at the bottom of the page, and you can join any of these groups electronically. Get involved in this exciting area of development within the DMTF - sign up to participate today!

DMTF to Present Full-Day Orientation Session at Global Grid Forum 12 (GGF 12)

This year's GGF 12, being held September 20-23 in Brussels, will feature an all-day CIM orientation session, presented by DMTF Board and Technical Committee members Andrea Westerinen, Jim Davis, Karl Schopmeyer and Troy Biegger, on Monday, September 20. The session will review DMTF's CIM and the importance of object-oriented modeling and consistent semantics for management of the grid environment.

For those unable to attend the all-day session on September 20, the DMTF representatives also will be presenting the content over three sessions on September 22nd during the GGF's Working Group meetings. This speaking engagement is an important part of DMTF's industry outreach, since attendees will learn about the significance of CIM, why it is so important to the grid community, and why it is as important to GGF as the overall architecture (OGSA) and the overall infrastructure (OGSI).
