DMTF Standards for Virtual Management (VMAN)
For ISVs who want to enable customers to quickly and easily deploy their
solution in a heterogeneous environment, VMAN Open Virtualization Format
(OVF) provides an open, secure, portable, efficient and extensible format
for the packaging and distribution of virtual appliances.
Unlike traditional methodologies of developing different versions of the
same application for multiple platforms, VMAN allows ISVs to develop a
single application that, once deployed, can be managed more simply and in a
consistent fashion throughout its entire lifecycle, using tools familiar to
IT managers. This reduces support costs and helps to provide a better user
experience.
