The DMTF's CDM Forum is dedicated to uniting the computer industry on a single interoperable interface to all system diagnostics.
Part of the DMTF's Common Information Model (CIM), the Common Diagnostic Model (CDM) specification is widely used within the industry to evaluate the health of hardware systems in multi-vendor environments. The CDM Forum will extend these capabilities by helping deliver additional compatibility in cross-platform system diagnostics through new conformance testing programs, as well as a Software Developer's Kit (SDK), which will streamline the development and integration of diagnostic modules within the CIM infrastructure.
CDM creates diagnostic instrumentation that can be utilized by platform management applications, and its tight synergy with the other models in CIM enables further integration of diagnostics into critical management functions. By developing new certification tests and SDKs, the CDM Forum will provide new levels of interoperability to help drive automation in support of end users’ grid and utility computing objectives.
Forum Membership
DMTF Forums pursue work of interest to a subset of DMTF members. Participating in Forums allows member companies to benefit by uniting with other members to share the costs of joint initiatives and together succeed at their stated mission. Membership in the DMTF does not automatically grant membership in a Forum, however, a member of a Forum must also be a member of the DMTF.
Membership in the CDM Forum, which is granted at the company level, results in a number of valuable privileges. The CDM Forum has two levels of forum membership: Leadership and Participatory. Annual membership dues are $25,000 for the Leadership Level and $10,000 for Participatory membership. These dues allow an unlimited number of representatives from a member company to participate in Forum activities.
In addition to all rights granted to Participatory members, Leadership members of the CDM Forum receive further privileges:
- Access to all Forum governance communication and documents
- Vote on all forum matters (such as Forum finances and direction, approval of test suites and/or specifications, as well as certification process and the resolution of disputes over certification results)
- Participate in Forum governance, including eligibility for role as a Forum officer
- Access to Forum source code, including the ability to contribute source code (as approved by formal vote).
Participatory members of the CDM Forum receive the following privileges:
- Participate in conference calls and face-to-face meetings of the Forum, access the Forum's general discussion reflector
- Vote on informational ballots (i.e., straw polls, etc.)
- Access to Forum certification software and process
- Submission of a limited number of product certification requests and records
- Listed in Forum publications and press releases
- Ability to issue their own press releases and publications that reflect membership in the Forum
- Participate in general conferences of the Forum and Plugfests (additional fees for these activities may apply).
Join the CDM Forum and take advantage of this unique opportunity to influence the future of system diagnostics. For more information, DMTF members can view the full "CDM Forum Membership and Dues" document on the CDM Forum WG page. Non-members interested in joining the DMTF to participate in the CDM Forum should visit the "Join Us" section of the DMTF Web site.
