With the increasing complexity and sophistication of attacks on computer systems and the Internet today, the PC computer industry has responded with the introduction of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware on PC computers. Currently, over 50 Million laptops and desktops have shipped with the TPM. The introduction of trusted hardware into mainstream computers has also introduced the need for lifecycle management of those hardware, something which is relatively new for many Enterprises today. This presentation introduces the TPM and trusted computing as defined by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), and identifies and discusses a number of challenges regarding the management of TPMs, FDEs and trusted platforms in general.
