Software
As the nature of software continues to evolve, so too must software management. Today’s complex business applications operate in a multi-vendor, distributed environment, and management data is passed between and among these varied systems. With software applications playing the lead role in extracting and delivering IT value to the business, managing these applications with vendor-neutral interoperability is a key requirement.
From policy-based management to end-to-end application system integration, the DMTF delivers the standards and technologies needed to help achieve business process improvement and management in the distributed environment.
The DMTF’s Common Information Model (CIM) and Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) standards deliver a common way to describe and exchange management information for interoperability throughout the enterprise and beyond. By delivering the ability to manage software across platforms and helping ensure future compatibility, the DMTF's technologies can greatly reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
