Cisco began its participation with the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) through the Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) and Directory Enabled Networking (DEN) initiatives to extend the value of Internet and Web standards to solve the problems of managing a well-connected enterprise. Cisco plays a significant role in helping drive the DMTF standards arising from these initiatives. We believe in the value of the Common Information Model (CIM) to enable interoperation of management tools in a multi-vendor environment. The value to end users and vendors comes from the common understanding of data and services, accessed or invoked using today's network standards (XML, LDAP, etc.).Back to top | ||
